Sonobe Abstract Necklace

This sonobe origami necklace is an abstract 3-D pendant, folded by hand from authentic Japanese Chiyogami paper and worn on a nylon wire. The geometric shape is light but makes a statement.

Sonobe is a modular origami technique: several units are folded one by one and then slotted together into a geometric shape. For this pendant the sonobe units are assembled into a three-dimensional form and sealed with a protective coating. Chiyogami is decorative Japanese paper with patterns inspired by kimono textiles.
