This poncho is black with a large front panel in peach and orange showing a bird, pine branches, big flowers and hexagon-shaped ornamental tiles.

Crafted from an authentic vintage Japanese tomesode kimono, this hooded poncho blends traditional textile artistry with a modern, easy-to-wear silhouette.

In Japanese kimono culture, a tomesode is the most formal kimono, worn at weddings and important family celebrations. Its ground is black and marked with small family crests, and the design sits only on the lower part of the garment, hand-painted or embroidered and often finished with gold. By repurposing these textiles, each poncho carries a piece of Japanese cultural heritage into a new life.

The relaxed shape drapes comfortably over the body, while the oversized hood and half-zip neckline add a contemporary edge. Every poncho is cut from a different vintage kimono, making each piece completely unique. The colors, motifs, and pattern placement will vary, ensuring that no two are ever exactly alike.

Lightweight and versatile, this poncho is designed for effortless layering and can be worn throughout the year as both a statement piece and an everyday favorite.

Please Note
This garment is made from vintage kimono fabric that has lived a life before becoming part of this piece. Kindly purchase only if you’re comfortable with the possibility of minor storage stains.

Once a design or pattern is gone, it’s gone for good.

No lens can quite capture the quiet splendour of these kimono-print pieces. Notice the subtle differences between what you see on screen and what comes to your door: differences in lighting, monitor settings, and the hand-placed motifs make each kimono special. Those gentle differences are not flaws but proof of the craft: an invitation to experience the full palette, texture, and grace that only reveal themselves when the cloth is draped on you, catching real light, in real life.
